Colombian labor changes that reach nearshore quotes by 2027.

Colombia's labor changes phase in through July 1, 2027: night work starts at 7 p.m., the ordinary workweek is capped at 42 hours, and the Sunday and holiday surcharge reaches 100% (Ley 2466 de 2025, Ley 2101 de 2021). The same nearshore coverage can therefore cost differently before and after July 1, 2027.

  1. Night work in Colombia starts at 7 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. The 35% night surcharge is unchanged.

What it means: U.S. evening coverage reaches night hours sooner. (Ley 2466 de 2025)

  2. Colombia's Council of State provisionally suspended Decree 1469 of 2025, which set the 2026 minimum wage, and ordered a transitional decree.

What it means: Minimum-wage figures can change mid-year; ask how quotes absorb that. (Consejo de Estado)

  3. Sunday and holiday work surcharge rises from 80% to 90%.

What it means: Weekend coverage costs more than weekday hours. (Ley 2466 de 2025)

  4. Maximum ordinary workweek drops from 44 to 42 hours.

What it means: A 45-hour coverage week needs overtime or a second person. (Ley 2101 de 2021)

  5. Colombia normally sets the next year's minimum wage in December.

What it means: 2027 quotes tied to the minimum wage are not final until then. (Ley 278 de 1996)

  6. Sunday and holiday work surcharge reaches 100%.

What it means: Seven-day coverage is priced highest from the second half of 2027. (Ley 2466 de 2025)

Time zones: Colombia stays on UTC−5 all year. It matches U.S. Eastern time in winter and is one hour behind it during daylight saving time, so a shift that ends at 8 p.m. Eastern in summer ends at 7 p.m. in Barranquilla.

Which logistics work moves first.

Freight brokers and 3PLs can usually delegate repeatable execution first: check calls, TMS updates, POD follow-up, routine status updates, appointment scheduling and billing preparation. That work has written rules and a clear finish; rates, carrier selection, claims and customer concessions stay with the brokerage.

Six questions to ask any nearshore provider for 2027.

Use them whoever you hire. Our own answers are in every proposal.

  1. 1Ask how the quote treats hours after 7 p.m. Colombia time, and whether night surcharges are included or billed separately.
  2. 2If you need weekend coverage, ask what changes on July 1, 2027, when the Sunday and holiday surcharge reaches 100%.
  3. 3Ask whether the 2027 minimum-wage adjustment is passed through, when, and with how much notice.
  4. 4Confirm that a 42-hour week covers your hours, or how extra hours are staffed.
  5. 5Write the authority boundary before launch: what the team executes and what always returns to your brokers.
  6. 6Agree on targets for turnaround, accuracy and escalations before day one, and a weekly report from week one.
